Every year Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning High School transports the 9th Grade crews into the woods for a week of no frills “expeditionary learning.” Outward Bound works together with the students to help them to incorporate the schools Five Commitments – Courage, Compassion, Respect, Stewardship and Perseverance in to their five day journey of bare minimum living. The students returned to Brooklyn after taking risks such as walking along a rope 30 feet in the air on the high ropes course. After climbing a couple of mountains “one step at a time,” students gained a new outlook on what it means to persevere through the toughest of times.
