With the support of over 100 funders from across the country, iDesign was able to take 40 New Design HS students on a wonderful enrichment retreat at Camp Ramapo & SUNY Binghamton last weekend. The iDesign program targets students who missed between 20-75 days during their prior school year through counseling, peer mentorship, family involvement and academic support.
On Friday November 8th, students packed their bags, hit the road and headed upstate to Camp Ramapo in Rhinebeck, NY. Camp Ramapo facilitated a full day and a half of programming for students with a focus on building trust, making good choices, developing self-confidence and experiencing success. Activities included high and low ropes courses, night hiking and a camp fire.
On the route back to New York City, iDesign made a stop at SUNY Binghamton University. The group received a warm welcome from over 15 student leaders from various student of color organizations on campus who facilitated a campus tour, panel discussion, and college access workshop.
We did it!
