Students in Ms.Rico’s 3rd grade science class at Elizabeth Learning Center created five shadow puppet videos as part of their unit on habitats. Students wrote stories with their teacher Ms.Rico, emphasizing important vocabulary and concepts around life cycles and adaptation. Students then created shadow puppets with which to narrate their tales. In order to set the scene, students painted habitat backgrounds and learned about scale; overlapping; horizontal and vertical lines; and spatial management of foreground, middle and background. Please enjoy as we learn about the desert, ocean, wetland, forest and tundra! Many thanks to Teaching Artist Kate Hoffman for making these projects possible!
