Michael Wiggins

Director of Education MICHAEL was the Education Program Consultant and teaching artist trainer for the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater for 15 seasons. He founded Teaching Artist Group (www.teachingartistgroup.org), and he is the founding Artistic Producer of Mud/Bone. Michael served as a proposal review panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Theater Program, and as a member of the writing committee for the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts (PDF). He has developed and facilitated numerous professional development workshops for teaching artists, and for classroom teachers in Title I schools. He was a member of the New Victory Theater’s original Teaching Artist Enrichment Team, and currently serves as a member of the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable’s Teaching Artist Affairs Committee. He has worked as an adjunct professor for NYU’s Educational Theatre Program and for The Graduate Program in Educational Theatre at The City College of New York. He is the author of The Teaching Artist Sutras, which debuted, this semester, as an assigned reading in graduate level courses at both NYU, and City College. His blog for the Association of Teaching Artists is archived, and he continues to post @ Twitter, Education: New York University Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Progam MFA (’98).
