Students in class 601 at JHS 162 started their year off reading The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown. They then created their very own Important Book, The Important Book of 601. Each student wrote and designed a page dedicated to something important in their lives. The important things chosen ran the gamut– from my iPhone, to my country, to my family.

To emulate the illustrations found in the original book, the students were asked to fill the page with a background drawing and write their over it. Once the pages were finished they were mounted and the book was bound!

Students read their pages in front of the class during reading share. At the end of the year “The Important Book of 601” will live permanently in the Library of JHS 162!
